Beautiful Beaufort
Close by is the beautiful historic city of Beaufort and
the neighboring venues of St. Helena Island, Port Royal, Ladys Island,
Parris Island. The history of the region is traced to Parris Island, where
sites of former settlements and forts sites dating back to 1564 are preserved.
The French, Spanish and English all made claims in the region in the 16th
& 17th centuries. The American Revolution and the Civil War all left
their marks in the area but Beaufort has also played an important part
in both World Wars. The Parris Island U.S.M.C. and Marine Air Station
continues to train soldiers to protect and defend our country in the 21st
century.
